991. Travel from Bengaluru to Mumbai on new superfast train soon: Railway minister
- On 27 September, 2025, the Union Ministry of Railways has approved a new superfast train between Bengaluru and Mumbai, addressing a 30-year-old demand and providing an alternative to the 24-hour Udyan Express journey.
- The train will decongest travel, benefit lakhs of daily commuters, boost economic and social ties between the two cities, and provide a comfortable alternative to flights and buses.
- Last year, over 26 lakh people traveled by air between Bengaluru and Mumbai; the new train service will make travel more affordable and convenient, particularly for frequent travelers and business commuters.
992. PM Modi lays foundation stone for IIT Bhilai Phase B, boosting research, innovation, and infrastructure in Chhattisgarh
- On September 27, 2025, Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Phase B construction of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai in a virtual ceremony.
- During the event, the Prime Minister also inaugurated Phase B of seven other IITs: IIT Patna, IIT Indore, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Tirupati, IIT Palakkad, IIT Dharwad, and IIT Jammu. A live telecast of the ceremony took place at the Nalanda Lecture Hall on the IIT Bhilai campus.
- The Government of India approved Rs 2,257.55 crore for Phase B on May 29, of which Rs 1,092 crore is allocated for campus construction. This expansion will add an additional built-up area of 1,51,343 square metres.
993. UPI goes live in Qatar, starting with duty-free stores at Hamad airport
- On September 25, 2025, a partnership between NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL), Qatar National Bank (QNB), and Japanese payment gateway NETSTARS enabled UPI acceptance at select point-of-sale (POS) terminals in Qatar.
- Qatar Duty Free was the first merchant to accept QR code-based UPI transactions, marking another step in the global expansion of India’s real-time payments system
- Indian travelers can use Unified Payments Interface (UPI) apps to make purchases in Qatar, which this week became the eighth country to allow the popular digital transactions system.
- Qatar is the eighth country to enable UPI for Indians travelling abroad. The system is already live in Bhutan, France, Mauritius, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates

994. PM Modi inaugurates development projects in Odisha, reiterates call for ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’
- On September 27,2025, Prime Minister laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several development projects worth Rs 60,000 crore in Odisha’s Jharsuguda and reiterated his call for an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India)’.
- These projects span various sectors, including telecommunications, railways, higher education, healthcare, skill development, and rural housing, among others.
- More than 92,600 4G technology sites commissioned by BSNL have been inaugurated. Over 18,900 4G sites have been funded under the Digital Bharat Nidhi, which will connect around 26,700 unconnected villages in remote, border, and Left-Wing Extremism-affected areas, serving over 20 lakh new subscribers,

995. NCB Collaborates with Indian Railways to Strengthen Fight Against Drug Trafficking
- On September 27, 2025, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has collaborated with Indian Railways for strengthening the fight against drug trafficking
- NCB said that the collaboration will focus on conducting awareness campaigns by displaying anti-drug messages and MANAS Helpline on electronic boards in trains and at stations to reach millions of passengers daily.
- The initiative will also focus on information sharing on vulnerable trains, routes and stations being used for trafficking of opium, cannabis and synthetic drugs

996. Isro integrating Vyomitra into Gaganyaan crew capsule: Here's what it will do
- On september 27, 2025, it was reported that, India’s dreams of human spaceflight are taking a decisive step forward, as ISRO readies Vyomitra, an AI-powered humanoid robot developed by the ISRO Inertial Systems Unit (IISU), for its maiden Gaganyaan mission launch.
- Vyomitra, whose name blends Sanskrit words for “space” (Vyoma) and “friend” (Mitra), will acts as a human simulant and flight analyst for the mission, which marks India’s most ambitious space test yet.
- Shaped as a half-humanoid with a robotic head, torso, and arms, though lacking functional legs, Vyomitra is specifically designed for microgravity conditions. The skull, measuring 200 mm x 200 mm and weighing just 800 grams, is built from heat-resistant, lightweight AlSi10Mg aluminum alloy
- For the Gaganyaan G1 flight, Vyomitra’s main job is to serve as the human proxy. This means analysing flight procedures, monitoring environment parameters, such as air pressure and temperature, and carrying specialised sensors to track mission data

997. Big defence push: BEL to supply DRDO’s Anant Shastra in Rs 30,000 crore Indian Army deal
- On September 27, 2025, it was reported that the Indian Army has issued a tender to buy five to six regiments of ‘Anant Shastra’ surface to air missile weapon systems from state-owned Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to strengthen the air defence along the borders with Pakistan and China
- The project, estimated to cost around Rs 30,000 crore, would strengthen the Indian Army’s Army Air Defence, which played a crucial role in thwarting Pakistani drone attacks during Operation Sindoor,
- The Defence Acquisition Council had cleared the project for buying the indigenous air defence systems soon after the Operation Sindoor action took place in May, 2025.
- Anant Shastra air defence systems are highly mobile as they have the capability to search and track targets on the move and can fire at short halts with a range of around 30 km, the system would be complementing the existing systems in the forces like the MRSAM and Akash in short to medium ranges.
998. India adds 27 GW renewable energy capacity in April-Aug: Report
- Between April–August 2025, India added 27 GW of renewable energy capacity, including 20 GW commissioned, with another 142 GW under construction, according to an HSBC report citing Central Electricity Authority data released on 26 September, 2025.
- The report highlights innovative tenders lowering solar-plus-storage costs to record lows of ₹2.7–2.76/kWh, enabling developers to earn returns through savings on infrastructure, land acquisition ease, and peak-hour power supply earnings.
- India cancelled 11.4 GW of weak tenders and aims to restore investor confidence by addressing 90 GW of unsigned auctioned capacity. Power demand is expected to rise significantly by late October or early November 2025.
999. FSSAI and Australia's DAFF sign MoU on food safety
- On September 24, 2025 at FSSAI Headquarters in New Delhi, India’s FSSAI and Australia’s DAFF signed an MoU to strengthen cooperation in food safety through knowledge sharing, import procedures, and technical collaboration.
- The MoU was signed by Rajit Punhani, CEO of FSSAI, and Tom Black, First Assistant Secretary of DAFF, aiming to build institutional ties and advance food safety standards via best practices and capacity-building initiatives.
- On September 25, 2025 FSSAI launched a new licensing framework for Ayurveda Aahara on the FoSCoS portal, streamlining approvals for Ayurvedic food products by aligning traditional recipes with modern safety and quality standards.
1000. India bets on green infra: Rs 500 crore allocated to develop hydrogen highways; ‘moment to lead in clean fuels,' says Gadkari
- On 25 September, 2025 Road Transport Minister launched India’s first hydrogen highways during the World Hydrogen India event, introducing large-scale truck trials across ten key freight routes linking Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Vishakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram.
- The government allocated ₹500 crore to five consortiums, including Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Volvo, BPCL, IOCL, NTPC, and Reliance, to operate 37 heavy hydrogen trucks and establish nine refuelling stations supporting these clean, long-haul mobility trials.
- India targets producing 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030, creating six lakh jobs, attracting ₹8 lakh crore investment, saving ₹1 lakh crore in oil imports yearly, and reducing carbon emissions by 3.6 gigatons by 2050.
